"Shared Cooking Gestures; Micropolitics of (Ex)Inclusion, from Tehran to Kabul"
Kamnoush Khosrovani, a dance artist and ethnologist, offers a reflection on the time spent in the kitchen in the Iranian and Afghan worlds. How it is never a solitary act but a collective creation, between those who handle the ingredients and those for whom the meal is intended. How does this time propose a space for sensory contemplation of the different foods? And more broadly, how, in many cultural and social contexts, do the gestures that nourish us carry the potential to sharpen our senses for broader solidarity?
In the company of Kamnoush Khosrovani, participants of all ages will discover the “Dancing People” pedagogy. Consisting of a series of sensory games with music and gestural explorations related to a collective event, the group will create a danced movement prioritizing connection.
Here, through the unconventional use of food from Iranian and Afghan culinary worlds, we will raise questions regarding the gestures of cooks: cutting, grating, crushing, kneading, and also sharing, listening to each other, taking pleasure; their repetitive aspect but also a return to the sensual dimension of food, their texture, their color, and the trace they leave on the body.
Participants will present their explorations in a collective performance. To invite all guests to return to a sense of wonder at the gestures and foods that come together to nourish us.
